When San Francisco had that last bad quake in 1989, We were going to go to the S.F. Giants game that night @ Candlestick Park and decided not to. We made the right choice. I thought the house was going to collapse the ground shook so hard. It was frightening.
The Winchester Mystery house is a must see if your in San Jose. Great way to spend the morning/afternoon. Weird and beautiful at the same time. Again, your posts are so informative...
My bank had a photo of Liverpool during the blitz that showed a similar level of devastation. They refurbished and it went out to make room for the usual corporate uniformity...
I can only imagine how horrible the devastation was after that earthquake. They rebuilt a very beautiful city, though. I've always thought that if I was going to live in a city, San Francisco would be it.
the first thing I thought of when I saw this picture is "Waht a contradiction". its such good picture, almost beautiful, but it portrays such destruction
is this the earthquake too? wow...
