Dona Nobis Pacem: Another Year Another Globe:

In 2006 Mimi Lennox, mistress of Bloggingham Castle started a little project.  For one day, bloggers who followed her would speak with one voice:  Dona Nobis Pacem.  They would post globes with that simple message.  What started as a hope nine years ago has now spread to more than 200 countries and it can take days to visit even a percentage of all the people seeking just one goal in our time:  GRANT US PEACE

Above is this year's globe and below just a couple of others I've done including a major favorite:  Bear 339 & The Bear A Tones who were created both for a song of peace and a hope for all the endangered animals on the planet.

DONA NOBIS PACEM

The Bearatones return because around the world today, bloggers from more than 50 countries including all 50 States of the U.S. will speak with one voice: Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace). The only hope for mankind and this world is the willingness to make life better for all of us. That can only happen if we approach each other with open generous hands and minds.

If you would like to join us, go to Peace Globe Central at Mimi Writes or just share and retweet on Twitter and Facebook. A simple request: One Day, One Voice, One Phrase as a message to the world: Grant Us Peace.

Seven Things I've Never Told You

Queen Mimi of Bloggingham has bestowed an Sweet Blog Award upon yours truly. Well actually she said some really nice things about me on her ever entertaining and amazing blog and then passed along a hand me down from One Gal Musings.

Now there are duties to fulfill in order to claim this bounty.  I am required to tell you seven things about myself that I've never told you before ... excuse me while I rummage in undisclosed information closet.  It's getting awfully skimpy in there.

Then I am to recommend others who have properly earned this lovely award.  So here goes.

1.  My Guardian Angel had to work overtime the night I swam nude in the pacific, got caught in a rip tide and ended up a mile down the beach from where I went in.  Not only that, but I did it at sundown when certain large fish are known to be looking for take out.  Teach me to go drinking with the girls.

2.  I once had one of the above for a pet and still really like California King Snakes.  Had to donate Squiggly to the school Science Dept when one of my many moves took place.  He was a great lap warmer and I missed him for quite awhile.

3.  Mimi told a story about somewhat unsuccessfully driving a tractor.  At the age of 12, I started driving a truck on an uncle's ranch.  Because of being a year ahead in school and California laws at the time, I was able to get a driver's license at 15.   So off road for 55 years and on road for 52.  One of my fantasies is still to have a Mary Movie Star thirties era roadster convertible.

4.  I hate liver.  I cannot even be in the same location where it is cooking.

5.  In high school I was cast as Amanda in Glass Menagerie.  Jonquils are my birth flower, but ever since doing Amanda's speech about the jonquils, they are my favorite flower.  "That was the spring I had the craze for jonquils. Jonquils became an absolute obsession. Mother said, 'Honey, there's no more room for jonquils.' And still I kept on bringing in more jonquils. Whenever, wherever I saw them, I'd say, "Stop ! Stop! I see jonquils!"

6.  This is Caesar.  He lives on my wall.  He has lived on my wall for 27 years.  I like him.

7.   The above are two cups from a collection currently of about 50 cups from 50 different cities.  Each one may be a tourist thing but they can't be one of those I Heart tacky cups.  Only rule is it must be from a city where I or one of the children have been.

Now for the other sweet blogs.  First let me echo Mimi with, "ALL BLOGGERS I READ who are not mentioned below:  You are every one amazing and I refuse to leave folks out." If any of you want a Sweet Blog award, feel free to grab it and have fun.

1. This Eclectic Life Shelly Tucker is a story teller of wonderful tales and a lady with a huge heart dedicated to bringing joy to children through Share A Square.

2. Fairweather Lewis - Fair may not do this because her blog is filled with wonderful ghost stories, mystery, and history but even if she doesn't, you should visit a truly sweet blog for a truly great read.

3. Watergate Summer - Alie writes about everything under the sun and then some. Every day is something different.

4./5. Now I've got a problem because Mimi nominated my two favorite bloggers in addition to herself. Trav's Thoughts and Are We There Yet. So Trav and Linda get a double dose of sweetness.

6. Border Explorer - Billie Greenwood writes an amazing blog about important issues. Whether you agree or not, she will always leave you thinking.

7. A Piece of My Mind - Julia writes books, poetry, and wonderful exposes on music of all kinds, her family ... If it is about life, Julia writes. Please go watch her do it.

Queen's Meme #14 - Do You Believe In Magic

Queen Mimi of Blogginham has ordained a confessional of sorts in the matters of how we commune with the supernatural.  In her own sweetly interested (incredibly nosey) way, she has inquired solicitously (Commanded with threats of dank dungeons) the response to the following questions (interrogation).

1. Tell us about your superstitions. Do you have any? Do you "x out" black cats on the windshield of your car, avoid cracks in the sidewalk or practice other rituals that make you feel safer?

Don't have any? Come on now! Make up some....

Mine are more reverse superstitions.  I must always have a black cat in residence and don't mind if they cross my path.  I walk under ladders and always expect a nice surprise of some sort on Friday 13.

2. Has anything paranormal ever happened to you that you can write about?  How many hours do you have and should I submit a list for review?  For the most part they have involved the deaths of close relatives or friends.  One happy one was meeting a stranger at a party and blurting, "When are you expecting?".  Since she had only found out that day and didn't look pregnant, this somewhat shocked both of us.

3. Have you ever had a near-death experience?  Care to share?

Driving on a dark road during a power outage and the railroad crossing bar hadn't come down.  Oncoming train coming out of a turn scared the beejeesus out of me with a very bright light shining into the car that made it across in the nick of time.

4. Pheromones...aka "love fireworks" (I think I remember those)...are a force to be reckoned with. Do you believe that two people can have an uncontrollable chemical reaction to each other? How do you know this to be true?

Turn around take one look and feel your head explode?  That one?  Yep.  Remember it fondly.  These usually don't turn out well or as Porter would say, "Too hot not to cool down", but sometimes the raging fire banks down to a nice, long warm glow. Sigh

5. Do you believe that modern day witches can put spells on people?
If so, who would you like to hoodoo and why?

I think thoughts have power, but negative usually backfires on the person projecting it.  Still if I were picking victims:  Anyone who thinks they are entitled to wealth at the injury of others.  Latest targets:  Insurance Company Executives.

6. ESP! What do those letters stand for in your life? Extra Special People such as your majesty (grovel grovel)

7. Do you ever hear strange noises in your house? If so, what do they sound like?

Haven't had any paranormal noises in this house so it is usually the nightly Feline Races up an down two stories.

8. Tell us about a time you "knew" something was going to happened before it did. Are you one of those intuitive types or do you know someone who is ? Do tell.

Well we are back to deaths.  The air "felt" grey.  I told my father I had to get out of the house.  Went to a movie and as I'm walking in I heard, "Go Home!".  My reply, "Not Yet".  Darn voice kept it up for the whole movie.  Got home and my dad said, "You picked a fine day not to be home" to which I responded, "When do I have to be in Fresno".  My aunt had died of a massive stroke with no warning.

Now this is a family trait.  One of her sisters was in a car on the way to Tahoe and reached over to tell her husband, "Turn the car around, we have to go home".  Having been a member of the family for 20 years, he did as he was told.

9. I'm a tad gifted in the dream department. Really. Sometimes my dreams are prophetic and come true. It can be a blessing and a curse. Has this ever happened to you? If not, would you like to have this gift? (Be careful what you wish for. It can be freaky at times.)

Been there done that sometimes about the oddest events.  Some are disturbing others just sort of a "head's up" innocuous.  One when a teenager was hearing music and seeing a wood floor with flashing rainbow lights that made absolutely no sense until two schools later in the year at a noon sock hop in the gym where they left the lights out except for floor level spots that changed colors as the filters passed in front of the lens.  Never could quite understand what that was about.

Message In A Bottle Meme

Her majesty, Mimi, Queen of Memes and wearer of the pencil skirt who resides in the magnificent structure known to the world at Blogginham Castle has issued another

Royal Decree

"You are about to send a virtual Message In a Bottle across the Blog Ocean. Leave a message in the sand or on the bottle. Write anything you wish. Be a pirate or a poet. Serious or silly. Anonymous or not. What message would you like to send out to the universe?"

Here Are the Rules:

1. Compose a message to place in your virtual bottle.
2. Right click and SAVE the blank graphic below
3. Use a graphics program of your choice to place the message on this picture:

4. Post the Message In a Bottle meme and your creation on your blog along with these rules
5. Tag a minimum of 5 bloggers - or your entire blogroll - to do the same. Notify them of the tag.
Your virtual bottle will remain afloat in the blogosphere ocean for all blogernity (That's a Mimism for blog + eternity.)

In addition to those rules, you then need to head over to Mimi's Message in a Bottle Meme and add your site to the Mr. Linky list that she has while also leaving your blog's name and URL in a comment so that she knows you've completed the meme. She will then add it to the master list of message bottles. You can email mimiwrites2005 at yahoo.com if you have questions.

As always, participation is optional, unless, of course, being found many years from now as a skeleton dangling on the blogingham castle dungeon walls upsets you in any way. You could enter witness protection and hope her majesty doesn't have friends in the CIA. You might as well do the darned thing. It is so much easier than meeting up with the dungeon new hire: Somebody named Sweeney I think!

You do not have to be tagged to play, but I tag the following people to be nagged into submission as Queen Mimi can be a harsh (not) mistress:

Shelly at This Eclectic Life
Corey at The Mitchell Blog
Vanilla Birdies at Tick Tock Goes The Clock
Tip Toe at Patterns
Tom at International Blog
