Take A Deep Breath

For years now, I have been a fan of National Public Radio. Even in this age of IPods, you can always find something just a little bit different on NPR. One of the most consistently original programs is "Fresh Air", which is just about as eclectic an offering as you are likely to find anywhere.

Just this past Friday there was a discussion with Junot Diaz about his Pulitzer Prize winning first novel, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, A perspective of the more than a half century of contribution to rock by Chuck Berry, and a review of the comic book based movie "Iron Man". You are simply not going to be able to find all that in one place anywhere other than "Fresh Air", and you always come away from the program just a little wiser or more knowledgeable than you were just an hour before.

If you are not familiar with NPR or live where it is not available, you can either find your local station or listen on line at NPR

In the UK I often find some radio channels far more informative and diverse than television.

Whoof!! I must admit that I'm not much into radio, or TV either. But I do like being a blog dog. Bark!

See you over at my blog.

I listen to radio, including NPR, more than I watch TV. Does that make me an anachronism? Cheers Jamie!!

Thanks Jamie, I love NPR and listen during the day as I'm driving around town. I've seen Diaz interview on TV for his Pulitzer and his book sounds so interesting... And of course I want to see Ironman as soon as I can. :)

LOVE NPR. I'm a weekly listener of "Wait, Wait..." and it's loaded on my iPod. "Fresh Air" is another great one.

Not much for radio, but I love PBS. Does that count for something?

The problem I have with talk radio is all the talking and not saying much of anything. Although I haven't given it much of a chance lately.

Happy MM!
