Earth Day

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. ~Native American Proverb

Oh Beautiful for smoggy skies, insecticided grain,
For strip-mined mountain's majesty above the asphalt plain.
America, America, man sheds his waste on thee,
And hides the pines with billboard signs, from sea to oily sea.
~George Carlin

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. ~John Muir

THE SNOWS OF KILAMANJARO

1939

2000

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. ~Essays of E.B. White, 1977

Thats a pretty profound post. I think all we can do is keep trying. The Kilamanjaro pic is incredibly sad.
