Queen's Meme 71 - The Football Meme

It seems that Queen Mimi Pencil Skirt of Bloggingham took notice of strapping males in spandex this past weekend.  Her majesty was so amused that she now questions her other subjects on the subject.  Should you choose to add your thoughts on the subject of the spandex wearing subjects, you can join in HERE.

(**1919 Green Bay Packers**)

Now that the Superbowl is over, I thought it would be fun to take a little football quiz. I already declare failure but that is beside the point. There are many things about football that endear me to the game. Men in tight pants come to mind, ballet moves, food and music. What could be better?

1. In football, the "ball" is not round. Does this concern you?

No some balls have dancers on a rectangle and boxing matches are fought in a square ring.  An oblong spherical that spirals is very decorative.

2. Can you decipher just one of the sideline hand signals?

If it is a single finger pointed towards God or middle towards the opposition - Yes.

3. What did you think of the halftime show?

I like Black Eyed Peas but usually served with corn bread.  In truth, they are a good group but the format just didn't work for them.  Now the pregame with Keith Urban ... fantastic.

4. I do not understand why it is so important to knock people down if the object of the game is to get back up and run with the ball. Wouldn't it be simpler to just toss it back and forth and see who could catch it first?

If they just tossed the ball, it would be baseball, and the great George Carlin had a few words to say about that.

5. What is a down?

The opposite of an up and ninety degrees from a sideways.

6. Besides the obvious testosterone flying around (ladies) and the cheerleaders in short skirts (gentlemen) what else about the game of football fascinates you?

The celebrities doing the frog march for the photographers lining the red carpet because the billionaire owners want to be seen with them and the Fox sponsors holding their contracts are forcing them to go in exchange for promoting their latest motion picture or recording. It's a hard hard life if only because of the first class jet lag.

7. If you could add a rule to the game, what would it be?

Only one commercial per product.  Anybody remember which car company sponsored which commercial?  Also, the Budweiser Clydesdales must appear free.

The Queen's Meme - The Forgetful Meme

Welcome to The Queen's Meme.  Sometimes silly.  Sometimes serious.  Her majesty Queen Mimi of Bloggingham is having an attack of amnesia and wants company.  To join in, visit her at the Queen's Meme to sign in and visit others.  She would try to describe the premise in her usual royal manner but has forgotten how.

1. What is the last thing you forgot to do? I forget

2. What is the one thing you are always afraid you will forget to do? One of these days I will forget where I permanently put a pair of shoes and have to go to the shoe store barefoot.

3. Can you remember when you were 3 years old?  Yes or technically the Christmas before I turned three in March as that was the year I got my Bumper Book and read to people for the first time.  It was also the night I fell asleep and missed seeing Rudolph and Santa Claus.  You can see why adults sometimes got confused if I was a child or just an unusually short person in the house.

If so, tell us a cute story. If not, make one up. - Oops didn't read down.  Cute story up above.

4. Fill in the blank. I would like to forget the only real sociopath I ever met, but I will always remember the pleasure in watching the police take him away.

5. Fill in the blank. I will never forget the first time I noticed that I really, really, really liked boys.

6. Who, in your opinion, is the world's forgotten hero?  Probably someone you never noticed until they did something wonderful and that is a different person for every one.  In my case a now deceased gentleman named Thomas Erskine who lived every day being the always dependable friend no matter whether he solved little or big problems.  A modern man who lived the code of a knight in armor regularly rescuing the not quite maidens in his life.

7. Find a word that rhymes with forget and use it to write a funny sentence.  A poor wit can't get you out of tight places.

And now for some appropriate mood music

The Queen's Meme - The Fire Meme

The Bloggingham resident has crawled out from under a pile of Peace globes to once more let her curiosity run rampant. To join in on the fun, just pop on over to The Queen's Meme and submit yourself to the following interrogation.

The Fire Meme

1. You are stranded on a desert island. There is only one match left in the matchbox. What would you use it for?  To light the fire under the still.  I refuse to languish waiting for rescue without alcoholic assistance.

2. Do you burn bridges in relationships? - Not if I can help it.   If you want the story of my 39th birthday party, send an Email.

3.  Name one thing you'd like to set on fire today. - Can't really think of a "Thing".  Even incredibly bad taste to my mind is probably loved by someone.  Now if you want to alter that to people ..... I've got a little list of those who won't be missed.

4. Have you ever burned a cupcake? - And she hollered "Ouch!" when I did it.

5. If you had your choice and could change nature's ways, instead of smoke and lava, what should spew out of volcanoes? Rock Candy of course

6. When is the last time you used a Fire Extinguisher? 1971 - Downstairs neighbor children started a grease fire on the stove and tried to burn up the apartment building. Only their kitchen and dining area got scorched.

7. Have you ever known anyone with a fiery uncontrollable temper? How did you handle it? - Whacked him up the side of his head with a broom.

8. You are with your significant other. What song are you singing around the campfire? Thank goodness for double sleeping bags.

9. What is the one thing you'd gladly leave IN your house in case of fire. Not being a "thing" person, I would walk out with one box in an emergency ... anything else could go up in smoke if necessary.

10. When is the last time you got fiery fighting mad? - I don't do that. Ever.  Really

11. Do you believe in hell? Nope. Anything big enough for me to call it GOD isn't some petty tyrant that punishes those who don't measure up.

12. Do you or have you ever smoked? Quit five years ago after forty years of puffing.

And just to round things off, please be aware that I didn't start the fire.

The Queen's Meme - The Threes Meme

Bloggingham is playing the numbers game today and the Queen has three things on her pencil brain (about two more than she can handle right now if you ask me what with all the globes spinning around). Still her wish is our command so head on over to The Queen's Meme for your marching orders and join in on the fun.

Welcome to The Queen's Meme #57.
We're talking THREES. Answer these questions all having to do with the number 3. I predict this meme will take about 3 minutes to do. Of course I could be wrong. It's been known to happen. And watch out! Question #3 is a doozy.

3. Where were you 3 hours ago? - Time difference lady - In bed sleeping. I woke up for this?

3. Is there anything pink within 3 feet of you? - There isn't anything pink in this house. Probably ranks as one of my least favorite colors

3. Name the 3 scariest places in the world. - Looking over the edge of anything high, A family reunion, and my next birthday party

3. Name the 3 loveliest sights you've seen lately. - How about 71?

3. Name the top 3 Bands in the year you were born. - Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, and one to swing on: Tommy Dorsey

3. Walk to your front door. Go outside and get in your car. Drive 3 miles East. Describe 3 things you saw on your way. One tree looks pretty much like another tree. Pick out the three you like best. Google hates images again today. Imagine three evergreens and ocean inlets on your way to the race track.

3. I, Queen Mimi, have sentenced you to a 3-day diet of your most sinful cravings.
What will you be partaking? - Bread Pudding with brandy sauce and whipped cream, Macadamia nuts, and Chocolate Fudge with Walnuts. You are paying for my gym membership and Nutrisystem food bils right?

3. Go back to question #3. Change the first word to "travel" and let me know if you survived.

I'll hold a room for you in the dungeon in the meantime.

3. If you are the 3rd person to do this meme and sign the Mr. Linky as #3 you win a prize! The prize is you don't have to do this meme. Oops. **Don't you know you should always read all the instructions/questions FIRST??**

That's all you get today because I'm not going to go to war with Google/Blogger at this hour of the day.

The Queen's Meme #25 - The UnValentine Grumpy Meme

1. I, Mimi Pencil Skirt Peace Woman, have officially declared war on Valentine's Day. If I see one more chocolate rose covered in stupid red tin foil paper I'm gonna have a fit. What did you get for Valentine's Day?
Three loads of laundry and a whole lot of dust from the bathroom renovation.

2. What will you miss most about Valentine's Day?
Not much.  It's become too candy and card commercial.

3. What could you have done differently yesterday to make the day sweeter?
Receiving candy and a card.

4. How many roses make a dozen?
How many roses does it take for a path of petals from the front door to the bed?

5. You and your love are getting matching tattoos for Valentine's Day. What will they be?
Scorpio and Pisces.  Don't they look good together?

6. My kingdom for a man who can spell. I am so tired of getting text messages from college educated 45 yr old men like .....I miss u ....wat up?.... B there by 8... or the ever popular U home? Does your significant other have an annoying cute little habit you'd like to break?
Being late everywhere.  How much effort does it take to look at your darn watch and consider that your car is not jet equipped?

7. What did you get someone for Valentine's Day, if I may ask?
Doesn't the fact that I'm doing this meme give you a hint?

8. No one is looking. I promise.  Write one word on this candy heart you've been dying to say to a romantic connection from your past. I will not tell.
Again?

9. Be a poet. Write a 4-line poem starting with Roses are red....
Roses are Red
So Is Your Face
Caught you in bed
Who's in my space?

(For the record this did not happen.  Just being silly)

10. What song best describes your Valentine's Day experience this year?
Actually used this one on an earlier blog:

11. I, Mimi Grumpy Skirt, am so glad this meme is almost over. This is my final question. I made it eleven questions in honor of the 11 roses I didn't receive. Aren't they lovely? This is my final final question, Regis:

Two cupids are in a knock down drag out fight on the floor of the Senate. One is a constituent from Venus, the other from Mars.

What is the name of the legislation are they fighting over?

The Queen's Meme #21 - The Wisdom at 21

Queen Mimi of Bloggingham has once more issued a royal edict  under threat of the dank and moldy dungeon as follows:

This is a royal twist on an old meme. I just wish I'd found these gems when I was actually twenty-one.This is how it works: You must follow the directions to the letter.

1. Find the nearest bookshelf of your favorite reads, cookbooks, tech books, magazines. It doesn't matter. This will work for all print media. If you don't have seven books lined up on a shelf, grab the first seven you see around the house.

2. Book #1: Turn to page 21. Read the 21st sentence (you may have to turn the page).

Write it down.

3. Do the same with the first seven books or articles you see. The sentences will make a paragraph. You must write them down in the order you found them.

4. When you are finished, read over your "story" and title it.

5. Show us your bibliography at the end of this meme. Hmmm...I wonder if we'll be surprised at the reading material we may find. I just did mine. It was rather shocking! I didn't cheat. I promise! Don't you either....or it's you-know-where for you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What, Why, Where, When And How

So one day she's walking past the church and runs into a couple of the nuns and they comment on the new surge in my popularity and say, "Corpus Christi was all over the Class Clown album."  The instincts of the ant are very unimportant, considered as the ant's; but the moment a ray of relation is seen to extend from it to man, and the little drudge is seen to be a monitor, a little body with a mighty heart, then all its habits, even that said to be recently observed, that it never sleeps, become sublime.  In the spring of 1991, however--his finances shattered, his employees suing him over a variety of charges, his daughter accusing him on national television of sexual abuse--Erhard fled to Russia, where he reinvented himself as a sself-actualizing guru for government bureaucrats.  However, both he and his German source agreed that "an Englishman's home is his castle."  Isn't it marvelous the way they all have music in them?  How true, but the apprehensive, small boy who waited in the head master's flower-filled garden on that warm summer evening, saw nothing of the architechtural and landscaped beauties around him. Harold was killed by an arrow in the eye, the battle was lost, and William earned himself the title "Conqueror".

George Carlin - Last Words
Ralph Waldo Emerson - "Nature" (The man could write some freaking long sentences!!!!)
Kevin Starr - "Coast of Dreams, California on the Edge, 1990-2003
Judith Flanders - "Inside The Victorian Home"
Dorothy Parker - "Arrangement in Black and White" from "The Best of Dorothy Parker"
David Niven - "The Moon's A Balloon"
George Chamier - "When It Happened"

Queen's Meme #14 - Do You Believe In Magic

Queen Mimi of Blogginham has ordained a confessional of sorts in the matters of how we commune with the supernatural.  In her own sweetly interested (incredibly nosey) way, she has inquired solicitously (Commanded with threats of dank dungeons) the response to the following questions (interrogation).

1. Tell us about your superstitions. Do you have any? Do you "x out" black cats on the windshield of your car, avoid cracks in the sidewalk or practice other rituals that make you feel safer?

Don't have any? Come on now! Make up some....

Mine are more reverse superstitions.  I must always have a black cat in residence and don't mind if they cross my path.  I walk under ladders and always expect a nice surprise of some sort on Friday 13.

2. Has anything paranormal ever happened to you that you can write about?  How many hours do you have and should I submit a list for review?  For the most part they have involved the deaths of close relatives or friends.  One happy one was meeting a stranger at a party and blurting, "When are you expecting?".  Since she had only found out that day and didn't look pregnant, this somewhat shocked both of us.

3. Have you ever had a near-death experience?  Care to share?

Driving on a dark road during a power outage and the railroad crossing bar hadn't come down.  Oncoming train coming out of a turn scared the beejeesus out of me with a very bright light shining into the car that made it across in the nick of time.

4. Pheromones...aka "love fireworks" (I think I remember those)...are a force to be reckoned with. Do you believe that two people can have an uncontrollable chemical reaction to each other? How do you know this to be true?

Turn around take one look and feel your head explode?  That one?  Yep.  Remember it fondly.  These usually don't turn out well or as Porter would say, "Too hot not to cool down", but sometimes the raging fire banks down to a nice, long warm glow. Sigh

5. Do you believe that modern day witches can put spells on people?
If so, who would you like to hoodoo and why?

I think thoughts have power, but negative usually backfires on the person projecting it.  Still if I were picking victims:  Anyone who thinks they are entitled to wealth at the injury of others.  Latest targets:  Insurance Company Executives.

6. ESP! What do those letters stand for in your life? Extra Special People such as your majesty (grovel grovel)

7. Do you ever hear strange noises in your house? If so, what do they sound like?

Haven't had any paranormal noises in this house so it is usually the nightly Feline Races up an down two stories.

8. Tell us about a time you "knew" something was going to happened before it did. Are you one of those intuitive types or do you know someone who is ? Do tell.

Well we are back to deaths.  The air "felt" grey.  I told my father I had to get out of the house.  Went to a movie and as I'm walking in I heard, "Go Home!".  My reply, "Not Yet".  Darn voice kept it up for the whole movie.  Got home and my dad said, "You picked a fine day not to be home" to which I responded, "When do I have to be in Fresno".  My aunt had died of a massive stroke with no warning.

Now this is a family trait.  One of her sisters was in a car on the way to Tahoe and reached over to tell her husband, "Turn the car around, we have to go home".  Having been a member of the family for 20 years, he did as he was told.

9. I'm a tad gifted in the dream department. Really. Sometimes my dreams are prophetic and come true. It can be a blessing and a curse. Has this ever happened to you? If not, would you like to have this gift? (Be careful what you wish for. It can be freaky at times.)

Been there done that sometimes about the oddest events.  Some are disturbing others just sort of a "head's up" innocuous.  One when a teenager was hearing music and seeing a wood floor with flashing rainbow lights that made absolutely no sense until two schools later in the year at a noon sock hop in the gym where they left the lights out except for floor level spots that changed colors as the filters passed in front of the lens.  Never could quite understand what that was about.

The Queen's Meme is a regular feature of Mimi Writes if you would like to participate.
