God Bless Us Everyone

On this day in history, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens was first published. It has never been out of print since, and there is only one thing to say:

I hate christmas, spent my christmas money with just one check to help poor women. I'm going camping.

Cleared the driveway and some paths yesterday. Then I walked to Safeway for some split peas and made a crock pot of split pea soup.

This morning it's 19 degrees and no new snow.

Jamie, I love this! Did you know I collect editions of Dickens' Christmas Carol?

BTW I have an award for you at my blog. It will be ready in 15 minutes: 9:35 AM EST :)

I just watched the version with Patrick Stewart the other night at work; I hadn't seen that one before. My favorite will probably always be The Muppets version!

My favorite Dickens story shall always be "A Tale of Two Cities"! I love that book and the story behind it; wasn't too keen on the made for TV movie, though.

The first time I saw the original A Christmas Carol movie, it scared the heck out of me (I was very young). Then I read the story... and David Copperfield and A Tale of Two Cities. Maybe it's time to reread some of them...

Thanks Jamie :o)

I love the movie, Scrooge... one of my holiday faves... I also prefer the old black and white Alistar Sim version as well.

My sister in law would be drooling over the photo of the Byer's choice characters (Bob Cratchett and Tiny Tim) you posted...she collects those.

I never appreciated Dickens when I was younger. I haven't read any of his stories in many years. Perhaps one day I'll return to classics like this one and have a better understanding and interest.

Cheers and Joyous Yule to you!
