It is in Pacific Grove California on public land, but you can stay there either as an individual or a group. It sits between the Pacific Ocean and State Park so you get deer and dunes. No phones, very rustic. Top that off that it is literally only a mile walk from Monterey, Cannery Row, and the aquarium - tacky tourist heaven
During November the winter sea breaking on the rocks is spectacular.
I want to go there! That's gorgeous, and I love camping and the sound of the ocean... I lived in San Diego for 3 years and I miss the soothing sound of the breakers.
You can't camp at Asilomar. You stay in the lodges and eat at the huge conference room. For camping you would drive south and camp in the State Forest. Incredible trailer and RV parking as well as camp sites.
It has been there since women wore their skirts to the ground. It is now part of the State Park system so that it can stay the way it is. Along a coast as developed as the Monterey Bay, it is a true treasure.
