Heaviside Layer

Just as there are forever homes, there are forever cats: The ones you know it will be impossible to forget. More than 12 years ago, I found a little ball of flea and sore filled black and white fur huddled in a dumpster where someone had disposed of him. I picked him up and he licked my hand, taking immediate possession of my heart. I named him Rorschach for the patterns on his chest and called him Rory for short.

He grew into an incredibly beautiful, mellow cat who simply radiated affection. The slightest touch would start the motor running, and it was always a pleasure to touch his mink soft fur. Every morning he would wake you with a pat to the face and every night curl up to sing you to sleep.

About a week ago, Rory hid in my bathroom. It was obvious something was very wrong. After a lot of tests, the vet gave the final pronouncement: Cancer, probably of the spleen and bleeding internally. A short while ago, my son and I met at the vet to spend some time saying goodbye. Rory was a wonderful gift and we shall miss him.

Oh dear; so sad. We know how it is having been there ourselves. They steal your heart and become a part of the family -- in some ways more than family. Remember the good times. Remember that you gave Rory 12 wonderful years he wouldn't otherwise have had. Let yourself grieve. And when you're ready there will be another cat waiting for a good home and a place in your heart. But you'll never forget Rory. Love, Keith & Noreen

Sorry to hear about Rory. Is he named after the actor Rory Calhoun?

My brother's fammily is going through that right now with their Golden, Gracie (9+ yeard old). She had emegency surgery for splenetic (?)tumors and massive internal bleeding. She made it trhough the surgery okay and is home Recouperating. They're waitng on test results for the tumors they removed.

Hugs!

I'm sorry to hear that. Saying goodbye sucks :o( I'm sure Rory will be in your heart forever, just as my dog Tuli will always be (he made it to 14).

Thank you for the kind thoughts. He was a truly special cat, almost more human than feline and a particularly kind one at that. I told someone I was hoping for reincarnation because he definitely earned the highest possible promotion. :-)

Lois, He was named for ink blots, or more accurately, optical illusions since his chest marking looked almost like this goblet

Jamie...

So sorry for your lose. My beloved Ginger and my two other life long ago loves David and Monster are often remembered for all the love and comfort they gave me.

I will say a pray for Rory tonight and hope he's waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

God Bless.

Rory was beautiful, and you both were blessed. There ARE forever cats, but most of them are that for me. I'm sorry for your loss, Jamie.
