The Day The Music Died

I'll do more about this later, but for those who remember that this is the 50th anniversary in February of the death of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens died in an airplane crash, there is an absolute MUST SEE Sunday series being done by the Des Moines Register. It is a combination video and written presentation and just plain remarkable.

Buddy Holly is one of those artists that makes me wonder what it must have been like to hear his music for the first time. It's such a simple sound when I hear it now, but in the context of the way music sounded in 1957?

His influence on those that followed him is so widespread and profound.

Something seems to be wrong with m computer! I'm having difficulties with it, and lost the sound on this. I love Big Bopper AND Buddy Holly, though I was too young to remember the crash. I DO remember the song that immortalized it for my generation: Don McClean's American Pie! Still makes me cry to hear that song.
