Fifth Sentence Book Meme

Mary The Teach over at Answers to the Questions tagged me to do a new Book Meme.

Here are the Rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book ( of at least 123 pages).

2. Open the book to page 123.

3. Find the fifth sentence.

4. Post the next three sentences.

5. Tag five people & post a comment here once you post it to your blog, so I can come see.

The Source by James Michner

"From the warm rising current which has sustained it, the vulture entered the cold outer layers, descending in a great arching curve, its sharp eye fixed on the object that had just died. Speed and determination were necessary, for before long other birds would spot the lifeless target and would come swooping in to claim it, but on this day the solitary vulture was to be the angel of death and it sped down on silent wings. On the ground a small donkey lay trapped with its hind leg pinched into the fork of a desert shrub, and its efforts to extricate itself had brought exhaustion.

Now I’m supposed to tag 5 people who will let me know when theirs are completed:

Sandee of Comedy Plus

I was blown away by Michener's The Source when I read it during my college days! Thanks for participating, Jamie, great job! :)

Okay... I slightly changed the rules... I only did the first 5 sentences and didn't tag anyone... BUT I did the meme! It's up @

I'll have a post up by tomorrow morning Jamie. Thanks for the tag. I will warn you...the book is Looking For Mr. Goodbar. Have a great Valentine's Day. :)

Well, heck, after reading Mags' entry I'm not so sure the rest of us even need to try! Good gracious it's bodacious!

I will try to get to this one tomorrow when there's actually a book somewhere nearby as right now the only thing next to me is a small pocket calendar and it doesn't even have the requisite 123 pages!
